Who do you miss the most?

Harriet is lost in the city to be honest. The person she misses the most is herself. She's far from home and the white dress is ripped, she has a paper poppy down her top, and she may have forgotten to put deodorant on this morning. The person who just joined her at the table, merely wanted somewhere to place his pint for a moment. He did not care.

When she was a child, she used to rub ice cream around her mouth, then kiss her own shoulder. It felt like someone else's lips on her skin.

She missed Auberon, too. Her partner who said he wouldn't wed her with only nine fingers. Poor old Harriet. She wants herself back.
